FOREST PARK            In back to back games, the Lady Panthers pull together another late game rally to steal the victory from the Lady Mustangs. From being down as many as eight, Forest Park had an explosive sixth inning to give them the momentum needed to win.

The first inning saw Morrow taking a slight lead over Forest Park. Sophomore Jada Godson of the Lady Mustangs put the first point on the scoreboard by stealing home plate. Senior Cynteria Elder supplied the second point by stealing home also.

Forest Park changed pitchers in the middle of the top the first from senior Emily Reid to fellow senior Elisha Wade.  The Lady Panthers stopped the Lady Mustangs from scoring and closed the top of the first down two runs.

Forest Park only scored one run in the first inning with Reid driving in sophomore Zaniyah Jackson home.

The second inning was completely Morrow. They scored seven runs while holding the Lady Panthers to three.

The game began to move slowly after the second inning, but Forest Park supplied a run in the fourth and fifth inning to keep the game within reach. At the start of the sixth inning, Morrow led 9-6.

After holding the Lady Mustang to only one run, the Lady Panthers went on much needed rally. Even with two outs, Forest Park stole bases and came home to reduce their gap in score little by little. What was a deficit for the Lady Panthers turned into the lead.

"They got down themselves when they [Forest Park] started to score a lot during that last inning and a half," said Morrow's head softball coach Erika Dargan. "That's when they started to get down on themselves."

The Lady Mustangs error's helped turn the tides of the game. Forest Park went from down 10-6 at the top of the sixth to winning 14-10 at the bottom.

Morrow had one last chance to reclaim the lead. Elder got an RBI with Godson coming home to make the score 14-11. But Forest Park stood their ground and held off a comeback on their home territory. The final score would be 14-11 the Lady Panthers.

After the game, Coach Dargan said that her team was not use to being up and having a team trying to comeback on them. "Just because you're up, doesn't mean you're going to win," said Coach Dargan.

These two teams will face each other again in Lady Mustang territory September 20.
