JONESBORO The Lady Tigers celebrated Senior Night as one of their seniors, Guard Chamiah Walker, scores 20 points to cap off the night. Mundy's Mill went on a 20-0 run in the third quarter to help get the 52-37 victory.
In their last meeting, the Lady Tigers lost to Jonesboro back in December. This was a much needed win for Mundy's Mill as they try to bounce back from their previous games.
"I liked that our girls played hard from the beginning to the end, we rebound well, we communicated well...," said head coach Arquavis Searcy. "We went through a rough couple of games but we pulled through today to make it happen."
Walker started the game hot, scoring eight first quarter points. Fellow senior Keianna West followed with four points in the period and showed up defensively by forcing turnovers.
Jonesboro's senior Queen Adams (24 points) was the team's main source of offense, scoring 1o points at the half with inside scoring and trips to the free-throw line as her team trailed 22-14 at the end of the half.
The Lady Cardinals opened the third quarter with a 8-2 run that closed the gap to just two. But the Lady Tigers changed the momentum of the game in the final 4:20 of play. Walker led the charge as Mundy's Mill crashed the boards and ran the break to score 20 unanswered points.
"My thing is driving to the basket," said Walker. "So I knew driving to the basket would be my best attribute today."
With this win, the Lady Tigers improve to 10-10 and will travel to Lovejoy to face the Lady Wildcats.
