JONESBORO Mustang's guard Sincere Love gets the isolation and nails the fadeaway jumper to break the tie and give his team the lead. Morrow's defense closed out the game with back-to-back steals and layups to complete their double digit comeback and win the game 65-61.
Mount Zion got out to a 14-4 lead by running the break and making the Mustangs pay with their turnovers. The Bulldogs controlled the first half with their scoring around the basket and points from the free throw line.
Trailing 32-29 entering the third, Morrow goes on a 7-0 run to take the lead and keep it for the majority of the quarter. Despite the Mustangs' scoring in the paint, Mount Zion stayed in the game with their free throw shooting. At the end of the third, Morrow led 52-47.
Both teams went back-and-forth in the fourth, but the Mustangs still held on to the lead. But drives inside and free throws reduced the Bulldogs deficit. Bulldogs guard Kelvin Rozier hits an and-1 floater that brings them within one. Another Mount Zion player splits a pair of free throws, the score is tied at 59.
With less than a minute left, Morrow players clear out and gives Love room to operate. After a series of dribbles, Love gets to his spot and hits a tough turnaround fade to give the Mustangs the lead.
On the ensuing Bulldog play, junior Christopher Ward jumps the passing the lanes and finishes on the other end to give Morrow a four point lead. Following his score, sophomore Deontae Hill steals the inbound pass and lays the ball to put the finishing touches on the game.
Morrow ends their three game losing streak and improves to 4-3 on the season.
