RIVERDALE A huge game from forward Eauriana Fountain help Drew defeat McNair and remain undefeated on the season.
Fountain made her presence felt on both sides of the floor. Her off-ball defense forced turnovers for points in transition. The forward even shown off her ball-handling by getting steals and taking the ball coast-to-coast for lay ups.
From taking the ball up the court and getting her mid-range jumper going, the Lady Titans relied on her as they were missing personal in their roster.
"I told her [Fountain] that this was her time to shine," said Drew's Head Coach Candence Jones. "Because we were down some players, we relied on her on the offensive end and defensive end."
Another key contributor came from fellow senior Emory Johnson. She was aggressive with her drives to the basket and got to line and connected on free throws. Johnson's defense was elite, getting into the passing lanes and taking the ball to the other end for multiple scores.
From start to finish, the Lady Titans maintained a comfortable lead and preventing any scoring runs from the Lady Mustangs. The final score ended 45-15.
Despite being short-handed, Drew's players stepped up and took on the challenge. Coach Jones believes her team should still have fun, but also learn the game of basketball.
"That's our motto for the season 'Everyday we get better' and as long as I'm seeing progression we're doing what we're supposed to do."
The Lady Titans take to the road and visits Locust Grove November 22.
