RIVERDALE North Clayton gets their first regional win on the road while giving Riverdale their first regional lost with the 46-30 victory. Their performance in the second half on both ends sealed the deal.
The Lady Eagles air-tight defense forced turnovers and disrupted the Lady Raiders rhythm, but Riverdale stayed in the game with their free-throw opportunities.
Riverdale's big three of Aja Grimes, Nyla Cole, and Poetrie Dace combined for 19 of their 23 first half points, while North Clayton's duo of Fatou Fall and Victory Johnson combined for 13 of their 23 first half points.
The Lady Eagles defense allowed only seven points in the second half. It started with Fall's relentlessness and active hands to force turnovers which lead to transition buckets. On the offensive end, Junior Kmya Wooten hit back-to-back triples to get the double-digit lead heading into the fourth.
Wooten continued continued her hot shooting, scoring five more points to lead all scores with 11. Johnson was the second leading scorer with 10 points on the day.
The Lady Eagles next game will be at home as they face the Trop County Lady Tigers January 7.
