JONESBORO               Morrow's varsity volleyball team goes undefeated on the day, winning matches against Lovejoy and Forest Park. Now on a four game win streak, Morrow sits third in their region with a 3-1 record.

Vs Lovejoy
The first match began with the Lady Wildcats. It was a shaky start to the first set, with both teams giving each other points by service or attack errors.

It wasn't until Ta'naya Besteder of Lovejoy breaking the chain of errors by recording an ace, giving the Lady Wildcats a 6-5 lead. They followed with a 10-5 run to have a six point lead, the largest of the set.

The Lady Mustangs continued to fight back, being down 16-10, to tying it 16-16. Concentrated playing and the Lady Wildcats errors led to this run. But the first set came down to the wire.

Morrow took the lead with the 24-21 score, but Lovejoy wasn't going down. They scored three consecutive times, two being aces from Besteder. But back-to-back errors caused the Lady Wildcats to lose the set 26-24.

The second set saw Morrow controlling the majority of it. But Kameron Felton of the Lady Wildcats kept them in the game  with her calculated kills, stopping any serious runs by the Lady Mustangs.

But senior Octavia Head put her fingerprints on this set. She recorded multiple assist by setting up her front row hitters for kills. The final point came from Head setting up sophomore Morgan Walters for a spike down the middle, giving Morrow the 25-19 victory.

Vs Forest Park
The Lady Mustangs continued their energy from the match against Lovejoy. A quick 12-6 lead caused Forest Park to call a timeout. The Lady Panthers reorganized, and gained points from attack errors by Morrow.

The Lady Mustangs still took the first set 25-14 despite their errors.

Junior Zahria Thomas of the Lady Panthers gave it her all in both sets. She dove for every spiked ball, keeping rallies alive for Forest Park to capitalize on her digs.

The second set was similar to the first set. The Lady Mustangs did not rely much on the quick hit strategy, instead utilizing all three touches with the bump-set-strike technique. They took the second set and won the match 25-14.

Morrow showed improvement from their Lovejoy match to the Forest Park match.

"The service game was much much better and we was reacting on short balls," said Morrow's Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Christopher Walker on his team's performance. "The girls communicated and was on top of those short balls."

The Lady Mustangs improve to 19-7 and travel to Lithonia to take on M.L. King High School September 22.
