COLLEGE PARK A third quarter surged from the Tigers gets them back on track with the 58-42 victory over North Clayton. Mundy's Mill is making themselves known for their air tight defense and tight on-ball pressure which causes turnovers for the other team.
The Eagles got out to an early 7-0 start in the first thanks to their defense and capitalizing on the other end. Freshman guard Brandon Battle scored eight in the first quarter which included two 3's to give North Clayton all the momentum. Mundy's Mill began to pick it up offensively and ended the first tied with 12 points.
In the second quarter, Mundy's Mill began to pull away. They went into their patented full court press that force turnovers and led to fast break scoring. Senior Eric Cousin (17 points) scored eight in the period with his play on both sides of the ball. At the half, the Tigers led 26-21.
Mundy's Mill went into a 2-2-1 zone which caused the Eagles to score only six points in the third quarter. Again, active hands on defense resulted in transition buckets or trips to the free throw line.
This win ends their losing streak as they prepare for their next opponent Woodward Academy December 6.
