JONESBORO A strong start leads to a strong finish as the Royal Knights defeat Drew for the second time of the season, completing the 2-0 sweep.
Elite Scholars started the game on a 7-0 run. Active hands was the tale for tonight with the Royal Knights getting into the passing lanes to force turnovers or scoring in transition. But those hands were a little too handsy because they sent the Titans to the free throw line to build a rhythm on offense.
Drew went to a full court press which cause a disruption in Elite Scholars' offense in the second quarter. But despite the tight defense, the Royal Knights continued driving to the basket and taking trips to the free throw line. At the half, they led 31-17.
In the second half, Drew switched to a 2-3 zone which caused steals and players running down the court for layups on the other end. The Titans went on a 13-7 that closed their deficit to eight in the third quarter.
Titan's point guard Dacorian Carroll (17 points) played more aggressive after halftime, scoring 15 in the second half. He also made two 3's and crafty finishes around the rim. Junior Camron Prather had a great second half, scoring seven of his 11 point in the fourth quarter.
But Jaylen Grant of the Royal Knights kept the game out of reach for the Titans. He lead all scores with 18 points and was a hawk on the ball, intercepting passes and pushing the ball up the court for scoring opportunities.
Elite Scholars wins it 61-49 on their home court and keep their undefeated home record.
