JONESBORO Following their two set win against Drew Charter school, Elite Scholars Academy move to 3-0 after defeating regional rivals Towers high school.
Towers racked up too many errors in the first set. Whether it was from serving or attacking, Elite Scholars cashed in on the missed opportunities and won the set 25-5.
The second set was completely the Lady Knights. Sophomore Emily Harden was instrumental in this set, getting aces as the Titans could not find an answer to her serves. Fellow sophomore Shelby Zanders supplied scoring also with recording kills at any opportunity possible, causing Elite Scholars to win the set 25-4.
In both matches, Elite Scholars displayed team effort by setting each other up for kills. They even employed a decoy strategy to catch their opponents off guard.
Despite winning all of their matches on the day, Elite Scholars want to build on and refine their performance.
"I think consistency of movement," said Head Coach Catherine Lawerence in response to what improvements she wanted to see going forward. "You always want every hit to get in the right side, the outside, you want to make sure they always get a kill. It's not perfect, but that's what I would love to see."
The Lady Knights will be visitors in their next match as they face regional rivals Redan Raiders August 30.
