HAMPTON The Lady Bulldogs improves to 6-0, 6-2 overall, in their area with the 13-0 victory over Riverdale. Coming into the game, the Lady Bulldogs have the second highest scoring offense, averaging about 13 points per game.
The offense got straight to work, starting with the Mt. Zion's quarterback Trinidy Searcy. She caused Riverdale's defense to go offsides with her hard counts to advance the ball down the field. The Lady Bulldogs capitalized off the drive with a rushing touchdown from center Devyn Myles.
Mt. Zion implored a trick play that had a quick snap to the running back for a pass to the center, which was great to use in short distances for the first down. This nifty play was something the head coach was all too familiar with.
"I played flag football back when I was in college," said Coach Wilson. "So I was able to use some of the plays that we were successful with."
Searcy was dominate on both offense and defense. The sophomore recorded a rushing touchdown and two interceptions playing the safety position. She says she likes playing both sides of the ball.
"Safety gives me a chance to play defense and watch the ball and watch the whole field," said Searcy. "With quarterback, I have to watch all positions."
This victory marks the fourth time this season that the Lady Bulldogs held their opponent to zero points.
