JONESBORO Riverdale extends their winning streak to four in an away match against Mundy's Mill. They are now 2-0 for the season against the Lady Tigers.
In the first set, the Lady Raiders got out to an early 11-3 lead. Seniors Jada Jacobs and Aja Grimes raised team morale with kills, to the delight of the visiting crowd.
The Lady Tigers reorganized themselves and played more concise as the set continued. Following the 11-3 run by Riverdale, Mundy's Mill went on an impressive 16-8 run to even the score at 19-19. Digs from the back row, blocks from the front row, and Riverdale's errors led to this comeback.
Despite the effort, the Lady Raiders won the set 25-21 off an ace.
The second set began with as a close contest, no team had a lead larger than three. It wasn't until freshman Abigail Love of the Lady Raiders increasing the lead to 12-8 with a kill. After that rally, Riverdale started picking up momentum.
Jacobs continued attacking off sets from fellow senior Chasity Madina. With the Lady Tigers committing a service error, the Lady Raiders finished the set 25-14. They move to 7-2 on the season.
Riverdale's next match is home against Morrow September 1 at 5:30pm.
